ABS-CBN Unveils Marketing Plans
By Johnny M. Pecayo
Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, MANILA-U.S. TIMES

LOS ANGELES, CA-- At the Asian American Marketing Summit held February 28-March 1 at the downtown Los Angeles Marriott Hotel, Rafael “Raffy” Lopez, SVP & Managing Director of ABS-CBN Global, Ltd., made an impressive presentation about his company's profile, products and services, magnitude of the scope of coverage, and quality of TV programs from the mother studio being beamed to North America, Middle East, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Lopez was the special key presentor of the day, speaking before a rostrum in front of a huge multi-ethnic audience who showed full attentiveness throughout his 15-minute power point, colorful presentation using a giant screen, with the tall business buildings in downtown Los Angeles serving as backdrops, as can be gleaned through the window panes of the hotel..

It didn't matter even if his slot was towards lunchtime. In fact, while most of the participants were already at the dining hall at past 12:30 p.m., a lot of business executives were in line waiting for the opportunity to talk to the amiable Raffy Lopez.

It was learned from his report, that ABS-CBN has been connecting millions of overseas Filipinos to home, for over 13 years, by bringing smiles across continents through unmatched Filipino programming and other media-related products that cater to the various needs and wants of the market.

ABS-CBN taps into the potentials of the ever-growing overseas Filipino market through cost-effective ad placements and media mileage.

The Asian American Marketing Summit was organized and managed by IW Group, headed by Bill Imada, Chairman and CEO.

Interview

Asked about ABS-CBN's reaction to GMA-7's entry into its territorial market, Raffy shrugged his shoulders signifying he is not bothered at all.

On the Wowowee stampede, Raffy said "we expect the government to file charges against our company, and we are willing to extend our assistance to the victims."

A follow-up question was raised as to when Wowowee would be on the air, if ever, Raffy replied: "Hopefully, by next month (as of press time, Wowowee is already back on air)." He has but praises for program host Willie Revillame who is so popular among the poor and the masses, and even among balikbayans that his Wowowee TV program virtually becomes a tourist destination.

ABS-CBN was the sponsor of the Networking Luncheon.
