WASHINGTON, D.C. and REDWOOD SHORES, CALIF., April 12, 2006 – The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) and The Filipino Channel (TFC), the number one Filipino network in the U.S., today signed an exclusive media partnership agreement that calls for TFC to provide at least $400,000 in support of NaFFAA’s 2006 Global Filipino Networking Convention & 7th National Empowerment Conference in Hawaii later this year.
The NaFFAA convention and events are timed to highlight the centennial celebration of Filipino heritage in the United States. Both TFC and ABS-CBN International will promote and support the convention across various channels.
"We approached The Filipino Channel because of its unrivaled success in reaching out and connecting with Filipino-Americans,” said Loida Nicolas Lewis, chairman of NaFFAA. “Much like NaFFAA, TFC and ABS-CBN have a long history of proven dedication to advancing issues important to Filipinos everywhere."
“Supporting NaFFAA ties in perfectly with our mission of being in service of Filipinos worldwide,” said Raffy Lopez, managing director of ABS-CBN International. “We have consistently used our unique communication platforms, news teams and financial resources to promote or cover causes that touch Filipino-Americans lives.”
The Global Filipino Networking Convention will be held in Honolulu September 28 through October 1, 2006. The convention was born out of NaFFAA’s desire to include Filipinos from other parts of the world. NaFFAA believes that by networking, it can more effectively promote mutual welfare and become a more potent force in helping the Philippines. For more information, visit www.naffaa.org.
