ABS-CBN Global’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) won its second PROMAX World Silver Award on June 22 at the 2006 PROMAX & BDA International Conference held in Marriott Marquis, New York.
Often referred to as the “Oscars of the Broadcast Industry”, PROMAX World Awards signifies world class achievement for excellence in television promotion. TFC received the honor for the concept and music of its current station ID (SID).
The two-minute music video is TFC’s tribute to today’s modern-day heroes – the OFWs or overseas Filipino workers. It is about their sacrifices and the many dreams they have realized for their loved ones and their motherland. The TFC SID theme music is also about the admirable values of every global Filipino – hard work, sense of family, love of country and strong faith in one’s self and in the Almighty.
The TFC station ID is getting an additional, even greater honor. It will be added to the permanent collection of media at the United States Library of Congress. Serving as a "snapshot of our culture in time," the award-winning work of TFC will become part of a permanent record of living history - available to scholars, media professionals and the public as a resource for generations to come.
The award-winning TFC Station ID project is spearheaded by the Ned Legaspi, Creative On-Air Head of ABS-CBN global, Ltd. while the theme song “Lipad Ng Pangarap” is composed by Arnel de Pano, arranged by Gerard Salonga and performed by Gary Valenciano.
Last year, TFC received its first PROMAX World Silver Award for its station ID sung and performed by Lea Salonga.
PROMAX & BDA is the world’s premier association of promotion and marketing professionals in electronic media.
